| Eliciting Excellence ~ the essence of leadership |
|
When leadership is effective, it elicits excellence. Excellence in others, excellence in business, and of course, effective leadership arises out of personal excellence. How do we elicit excellence as a leader? There are a number of dynamics at play which either bring excellence forth or act to suppress it. And although many leadership strategies focus on improving one's personal skills, they fail to acknowledge that most of the work gets done by others. Therefore, the focus of improving leadership shouldn't be so much on honing one's personal skills, but rather on improving and enhancing the dynamics which take place throughout the organization - dynamics between leader and team, among members of the team, and between the company and its clients/customers. |
